After Graduation<--- the fun part :)

My Abuelo (Grandpa for all you non-Spanish speakers), my Titi (Auntie) Nina, my Titi (Linda), and my cousins Jeremiah & Manny all came in to GA for graduation. I was extremely happy that family came to visit me, however I will admit considering that I come from a family which consists of eight aunts & uncles + numerous cousins, it was a let down that so few of my family members made the effort to come to visit me. With that said, I made the best of celebrating my graduation & it definitely paid off. Immediately after graduation, we set off to find somewhere to eat lunch at. We headed over to Macaroni Grill, but as soon as we got into the parking lot I decided that I really wanted to head to my favorite restaurant ever, Carrabba's!!!!! lol. When we went there we ironically saw Davis (Mr. "Good-bye Forever") and his family eating dinner. I had all my favorites fried zucchini and calamari. Then I tried a new dish which I didn't really care for (lol that's what I get for not sticking with what I know). But overall I was so happy for the food, family & fellowship. At lunch, I received the first of my graduation presents, a card with some $$ from Abuelo & a card with some money from my immediate family. Then we headed home to get ready for my other graduation parties. I had been invited to several & planned on bringing my family with me to several of them. The first party that we headed to was that of my next door neighbor's, Joe (left). His family set up a low country broil (which looked super yum, but I was still stuffed from Carrabbas) in the back yard complete with a festive white tent, lots of family members, and drinks (haha I sound like an advertiser). It was really good to see all of Joe's extended family members (Aunts, Uncles, Grandparent & cousins) as well as some neighbors who I only see in passing. After stopping to snap some pictures, swap grad gifts, and talk we headed of to the next party. Next we hopped into the car to drive over to Valerie's house, who lives down the street from me. I would have walked, but in this Georgia heat & painful grad heels

Graduation: The Day Finally Came

So the day that I have been looking forward to has finally come: GRADUATION. Surprisingly, I was not as emotional as I thought I would be. The night before I went to Desalyn's party (which was lots of fun) and didn't get home until 12:30 which meant I went to bed at 1:45. Lucky for me I had to wake up bright and early at 6:00. However, I woke up just like normal, made sure my hair looked perfect, did my makeup and headed off to graduate. To me going to graduation was more like going to a band concert or some other formal event. It didn't really hit that it was one of those major moments of life. I got to the James Brown Arena around 8 so I had time to snap a couple of pictures with my friends. Then after I took some pictures, I headed around the arena to the ramp where all the other graduates were waiting. Before I got down into the pit area, my next door neighbor stopped me to hug me & wish me well. It seemed odd that after over 12 years of living next door to her, my time would end. Then I headed down to the pit area. I made sure that I saw all of my friends as we waited to enter the stage. Then as we lined up and waited to walk out, we played zoo. It's crazy how many seniors graduated. Then it was finally the time to walk onto stage. I could hear pomp and circumstance in the background. Surprisingly, considering that I was standing in front of over 1000 people, I was not nervous. I thought I would cry, but after I saw all the parents & family members in the crowd, bright eyed and bushy tailed (lol), I actually felt happy and proud to be the center of attention in this event. Jenny, my line partner, and I made a handshake that we did before entering our separate rows. The rest of the ceremony sorta flew by. The chorus sang a song that, I will be honest, almost made me shed a tear or two. The Valedictorian and Saludatorian did their speeches. Our speaker spoke (lol sorry for no specifics). Then it was time for me to walk across the stage. My legs began to shake as they came closer to my name. I screamed for allof my friends. Then it was my turn. I saw my family and friends as I walked up the stares, making sure to not trip up the stairs. Then I quickly walked across and shook everyone's hands. It was really that easy!

Drakkeee!!

I have decided that April has been one of the best weeks of my life. So far I've had three of the greatest experiences of my senior year. 1. Prom 2. Sen10r Day and 3. Drake's Concert. My friends Kendra Tubman & Suzanne Ozturk & I all headed to Furman University in South Carolina for Drake's concert on Thursday April 22. This sounds lame but I reAdd Imageally enjoyed the car ride up to FU (lol). We drove through McCormick, SC and I got to see parts of SC which I've never seen before. With the exception of a little trouble with directions when we reached the city of Greenville, we had a smoothe ride to the concert complete with corny jokes from Suzanne's mom :) When we reached Greenville we stopped at McDonald's and jumped into line so that we'd be in the front of the concert. For those of you who don't know, me & Drake are gonna get married. We're meant to be. So best believe we were in the third row of the concert on the floor of the venue. I must admit that initially I had misgivings about this concert. Since Drake doesn't have an official album, I wasn't quite sure what songs he would perform. Plus, almost all of his songs have Wayne in them, who unfortunately is in jail (oh well lol). On top of that it took Drake a whopping two hours to get his fine behind onto stage. This weird band whose lead singer had more hair spray than a cheerleader and more hair volume than a model opened for an hour. The lead singer kept thrusting in the air & literally no one at the concert knew who he was lol. Then K-OS, an alternative rapper, performed for another hour. He was pretty great. Now I must admit that after two hours I was a little upset. I felt like I had wasted my money on this concert. However, all my anger quickly disappeared when Drake stepped onto the stage. I mean he is cute in his photos, but he is GORGEOUS live. He has the best smile ever. He performed all of his famous songs (Houstalantavegas, Best I Ever Had, FireWorks, Fear, Say Something) and he also performed his part from other songs (Throw It In the Bag Remix, Bedrock-which he did an amazing bed rock dance to lol, Uptown, Invented Sex, Successful etc). Then he told the crowd that since Weezy was in jail, all he could do was listen to Hot 97 radio station. So the crowd sang I'm Goin In which was recorded and played on hot 97. Basically the concert was amazing. Then Drake said he would call up a fan onstage & he called up this one girl. How about he started kissing her cheek & neck & rubbed her arms. Basically me & my friends were extremely jealous lol. We vowed that we would keep going to Drake concerts until he called one of us onstage lol. What I liked most about the concert was that Drake really interacts with his audience. Unlike Incubus, whom I saw earlier in the year, Drake talked to the audience constantly. He would say things like, "Fear is my favorite song that I've ever written & I hope yall enjoy it" and he constantly thanked us for coming out to the concert. Then he had a shout out session, during which the spotlight landed on different members of the audience & Drake commented on their appearane. For ex, there were two girls dressed alike and Drake was like, "Are yall twins? I like yall's dresses." Then this one guy was holding his girlfriend up & Drake asked, "Is that your gf?" The guy just kept pointing at his gf & Drake asked,"Well dang are you trying to give her away to me. That's sorta F'ed up." Lol. I took so many pictures and videos that my arms were sore. I took videos on my camera, my phone & my i-pod. Basically Drake's concert was wonderful!!!! After the concert we hopped back into the car & headed back for Augusta. Suzanne decided to play some of her Drake songs for her mother & her mom asked, "Why does he keep saying the N-word?" Lol. I will definitely be heading back to more Drake concerts.

Peace & Love
